Dr. Budig was raised in Great Bend, Kansas and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1993. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology at the University of Kansas in 1997, and received his DDS degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2002. In addition to spending time in the UMKC dental clinic, he treated patients at the Jackson County Jail, The Kansas City School for the Blind, and traveled to Venezuela to treat orphaned children. Following graduation, Dr. Budig was proud to become the first full-time dentist for the Douglas County Dental Clinic in Lawrence, Kansas. After serving at the Douglas County Dental Clinic for a year, Dr. Budig started his private practice in Lawrence. Dr. Budig practiced general dentistry in Lawrence for four years before being accepted into the endodontic residency program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he received his Specialty Certificate in Endodontics. During his residency, Dr. Budig conducted several research studies and was published in the June, 2008 issue of the Journal of Endodontics for his work on the application of non-hydrated MTA.
Dr. Budig has achieved his professional goal of becoming a Diplomate with the American Board of Endodontics. Less than 20% percent of all U.S. Endodontists are board certified, and Dr. Budig is now one of only five Board-Certified Endodontists in the State of Kansas. Becoming a Board-Certified Diplomate is a voluntary process that reflects Dr. Budig’s commitment to the specialty and is the highest status an endodontist can achieve. In order to obtain Diplomate status, Dr. Budig successfully completed a rigorous three-part examination that included a review of his education, knowledge, skills, and ability to apply new research and advances to the practice of endodontics, as well as his commitment to providing the highest quality of patient care. The American Board of Endodontics is the only certifying Board for the specialty of endodontics and is one of the nine specialty boards recognized by the American Dental Association. The Board Certification process requires exceptional dedication and commitment to the field of endodontics and continuing professional growth.
Dr. Budig is the immediate past President of the Fifth District Dental Society. He serves on the Endodontic Specialty Committee for the Kansas Dental Board, and was a past President of the Greater Kansas City Endodontic Society. He is also a member of the American Association of Endodontics, the American Dental Association, and the Kansas Dental Association.
Dr. Budig’s personal interests include spending time with his family, following the Jayhawks and Chiefs, and working diligently to improve his golf game. He lives nearby with his four children. Dr. Budig is committed to serving this community for the remainder of his career and will work closely with your restorative dentist to provide you with the best possible care.
